He sits on the bed with his basketball shorts on, his dingy grey hospital gown draped around his neck like the cape of some deranged superhero.  “I had no idea it was going to be so boring in here!” Well no shit, Sherlock. It’s a mental hospital, there’s no tv, no pictures on the wall, your bed doesn’t even go up and down like at a regular hospital because there can’t be any cords in the room. You know, hanging devices?

“I want to get out of here in the minimum amount of time, so I’m doing everything I have to to earn my points.” Good. Motivation is good, even if it’s just to get out.  Some people in here aren’t even motivated to live, let alone get out. As long as you see the therapist, go to group and take your meds, I’ll be satisfied.  But what are we gonna do with you once you get out?
