Can’t figure out if this augments or ruins my childhood.

The best commentary on this story I’ve seen so far:

When the Penn State scandal broke this week, I was really bummed out about it. It had nothing to do with a love or respect for Joe Paterno (or any kind of significant lack thereof). It was because I had the misfortune (or in hindsight, perhaps blessing) of going to a school without a football…

Things that I will probably tolerate this week:

  • Jokes about Herman Cain and his unwanted flirtatious/sexual advances towards his accuser, Sharon Bialek.

Things that I will probably not tolerate this week:

  • Jokes about Justin Bieber, then 16 years old, having sex with “an adult.”

Things that I will definitely not tolerate this week:

  • Anything related to that terrible story from Penn State. Child abuse is never, ever something to laugh at.

There are some things for which I can be proud…

So, this morning on the way to work I did not buy a pack of cigarettes, nor did I stop at McDonald’s to get a nasty, greasy breakfast sandwich.  I came in to the office, made some tea (ginger/lemon, mmmm!), and ate half of my lunch of brown & long grain rice with vegetables. WIN!!

Actually, this looks much better in print than it really feels.  I’m not in an ecstatic mood, but I do feel mellow and happy.  WIN! AGAIN!!

Eh, so I guess it’s going to be an alright day…as long as I keep making the right choices.
